Scenario:

WOW! I love this blog. It really has everything I like. It offers tools, updated information, and tutorial video that I need. But wait, There’s no way for me to stay connected. I can’t always visit the site because I have to keep up with my Twitter, myspace, and facebook accounts.

Even though my scenario is kind for dorky, it still hold truth. That true is you are going to need one need one way you stay in connect with your audience. In fact your probably going to need about 3 or 4.

Don’t start freakin’ out on me, this doesn’t have to be hard or time consuming. Think of is as a way expanding your brand.

1) RSS

Definition (by wikipedia ): is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a “feed,” “web feed,”or “channel”) includes full or summarized text plus meta data such as publishing dates and authorship. Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content quickly and automatically. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place.

RSS or Really Simple Syndication is one of the most well known and widely used because is brings information to the people allowing a constant connection between new information and reader.

2) Email

If you don’t know what Email is here’s a heads up.

Definition (by wikipedia): Electronic mail, often abbreviated to e-mail, email, or originally eMail, is a store-and-forward method of writing, sending, receiving and saving messages over electronic communication systems.

Its not as cool as RSS but it still really really useful in your arsenal, so look into it.

3) Instant Messaging or IM

IM is by-no-means new, but it is a recently added feature for blogger. Its gaining popularity because its more efficient then say……. Email (sorry email). It allows you to connect fast and more easily with visitor how want to say hello.

4) Phone

Its cost, its slightly time consuming, and its older the your grandmother. Auhhh yes, the phone. Its not that glamorous but its still works well and can really work well if you have a service or product that you want to sale locally.

5) Twitter

What’s Twitter you ask?

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length. And with Twitter you can keep your visitors up-to-date about everything your doing with your blog and/or site.

6) MySpace.com

MySpace is a popular social networking website offering an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music and videos for teenagers and adults internationally.

If you wish to start a site, it is a fact that you have to advertise. And immediately most of you think of advertising on search engines like msn, google, and yahoo. While this is a great way to do so, this approach can be expensive. In some cases around $100, 300, even 500 dollars or more to see any real results.

This article focuses mainly on free advertising at its finest, from social sites to classified, you will find that putting all of these together (w/ a site people want and/or need) the results are as good or better then paying a search engine for 2 or three keywords. Lets begin.

SOCIAL BOOKMARKING SITES- Most of you know about social bookmarking sites and what they are. But, lets get everyone up to speed. Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to store, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web pages on the Internet with the help of metadata. At else that’s the definition Wikipedia gives us. Your sites like Delicious, CiteULike, Connotea, Digg, Diigo, Faves, and Furl just a fraction of the growing 140 know site. Get to know these because there the most important.

SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES- Social network site focuses on building online communities of people who share interests and activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. Most social network services are web based and provide a variety of ways for users to interact. This includes sites like Myspace, Facebook, Bebo, BlackPlanet, Friendster, Habbo, and LinkedIn.

DIRECTORIES- These are good for any reasons but we won’t go into details about it all. Just know putting your site here you can increase your site visibility.

ARTICLE DIRECTORIES- These are exactly what they sound like a directory of articles. Use these to advertise new content that can help others. LIST: articledirectory.com, goarticles.com, isnare.com, articlesalley.com, articlebasement.com and buzzle.com.

VIDEO HOSTING SERVICE SITES- Youtube, Break.com, Buzznet, Crackle, Current, Dailymotion, EngageMedia, Google Video, and Metacafe are good sites to advertise your site. You can make a commerial or a short tour of your site.

PRESS RELEASE SITES- A written or recorded communication directed at members of the news media for the purpose of announcing something claimed as having news value. That even sounds like a good place to advertise your site. Here are my favorites: prbuzz.com, 24-7pressrelease.com, and pr.com.

SOCIAL COMMENTING- Commenting on other peoples sites in your niche offers both networking potential and a chance to advertise to others looking for exactly way you offer.

FORUMS- What is a forum? An Internet forum is a web application for holding discussions and posting user-generated content. Internet forums are also commonly referred to as Web forums, newsgroups, message boards, discussion boards, discussion groups, discussion forums, bulletin boards, simply forums. That said you should know many many people go to these forum everyone day. These is a great opportunity to show of your sites so look into it.

CLASSIFIED ADS SITES- A form of advertising which is particularly common in newspapers, online and other periodicals, e.g. free ads papers. Great for advertising a service or product. My favorites: Craigslist, Kijiji, and usfreeads.com.
